Hecho en the Chopped Kitchen
The chefs must combine cocoa mix with Japanese peppers in challenging fish-course round. Then in the entree round — a big, big, oops! — one chef accidentally drops pork belly onto the floor! But it's what happens when the chef picks the meat up off the floor that shocks the judges most. Then can an ice-cream-truck treat go well with wheat grass? The two finalists attempt to make great, green desserts.

JudgesEdit

MealEdit

AppetizerEdit

Ingredients: Red Mullet, Shishito Peppers, Watercress, Hot Cocoa Mix

April made Cocoa Crusted Fish with Cucumber Watercress Salad. The judges love the salad, which is very fresh and has a well-balanced dressing. The fish is a bit dried out, which is partly because of April's choice to cut it up so small. Scott got a few pieces of raw garlic in his salad.

Chris has Cajun Spiced Mullet over Black Bean Ragoût w/ Watercress. Chris's fish is cooked perfectly and well-seasoned, and he is the most successful with the hot cocoa mix by putting it in his ragoût. The one mistake is that there are some pinbones in the fish.

Flannery prepared Spicy Watercress Broth with Cocoa and Fennel Dusted Mullet. The soup is beautiful, and there is great flavor development in it. Flannery's dish is the most creative. The fish is loaded with bones, which is a choking hazard.

Danny prepared Cocoa Pan-Fried Mullet with Watercress Salad & Fried Shishito. Danny makes the best shishito peppers by charring them well. The fish is cooked perfectly and looks beautiful, although it is under-seasoned. The salad is a bit overdressed.

While the judges love Chef April's salad, the fish was the biggest mistake, being cut so small and still having a few bones. She does not progress to the entrée.
